I saw in Access IT that Spotify was RNIBs App of the Month so thought Id
give it a try.
Im still learning how to use it but I am impressed in that it allows you to
download tracks and keep a playlist without the necessity to purchase the
music although I presume you can only listen within the Spotify App. The
free version is plagued with adverts but I dont rely want to subscribe
which costs £9.99 a month.

In my case, I don't care much about buying the tracks and downloading to my
ITunes folder. On my IPhone, it's handy when I'm encoding a vinyl track I
already own and have forgotten the title and artist, so I use Shazam to
answer the question: "What shall I call the file on my Windows PC. So Shazam
is perfect for my use of it. Your point about different databases is a good
one though.
Best,
Clive

I think having both options are useful as the database will be slightly
different in each of these or that's my experience.

Hi Kevin,
Because I didn't know you could do that. What's the question you would
ask
Siri: "Name That Tune", Identify this", "What's this song", or whatever?
Shazam does just about all of this too, so it's six and two threes.
However, I'd like to give the Siri option a try.
Best,
Clive

Hi Clive.
If using an iPhone, why not just use Siri? Just hold the home key in
and then ask Siri to tell you what the song is. Siri has never failed
to identify a song to date and can identify a song that is playing
extremely quietly. I've been really surprised when it has identified
cover versions that are so similar to the original and even in a few
seconds of instrumental only music.
The other advantage with Siri is that it will then automatically place
that song in your iTunes app and you can view it, sample it and
purchase it from there by selecting the Siri tab.
Regards.

Hi,
I love this app. as someone said elsewhere, it is free and
accessible. I have Shazam on my IPhone and it's a cinch there.
While the track you want to play is within earshot:
1. Double tap on the Shazam Icon.
2. Double tap on 'Touch To Shazam'.
3. Wait a few seconds and voiceover will say: 'Done'. All the details
you want will be on your screen, including title and artist plus a
link to play the track in full.
Sometimes though, if you 'Touch to Shazam', and you get a message
telling you to move your device nearer to the sound source, it can
mean simply that the track isn't on the Shazam database.
It's great fun this, and sometimes, when encoding an item from Vinyl,
if I've forgotten the title and artist, it's been very handy for
filling in the blanks.
Am I right in thinking it was free, then came at a price, and is free

I need to use ShazHi List,
I have a 5th gen Ipod touch with the latest updates installed.
Is the Shazam, the music discovery app accessible and is it costly to buy?
All help appreciated.
