[access-uk] RNIB grants

I read that RNIB provide a grant to blind and partially sighted
people, to help them buy equipment. If one has savings though, can I
assume they are not considered?
My mom thinks I should maybe try and apply for a grant for the kitchen
aids I need for the new flat I am moving into as a private tenant, yet
I have savings, so I wonder if RNIB would consider me?
Has anyone ever applied for one of these grants, to help with daily
living?
