There is also Gardner's Trust for the Blind,Action for the Blind, Metrapolitan Society for the Blind and others. I have heard of the RNIB offering Grants so why not phone their help line. All these are means tested. -original message- Subject: [access-uk] Re: RNIB grants From: "Saqib" <saqib500@xxxxxxxxxxx> Date: 08/04/2009 11:28 am HI Will. Applying for grants is like getting blood out of a stone. I see so many people and charities collecting for the poor blind but don't know where the money ends up. I know one organization where the money usually ends up in the fat cat directors pockets. This isn't the RNIB before someone shoots me down. I'm afraid Organizations who claim that they help the blind usually help them selves in employing family, friends and spouses. So in one word Will, If you want something then dig deep in to your pockets like me and some others I know of. If your Social Services have a VI Support department then I would contact them to ask for an assessment and from there they will be able to offer you the things that you require for day to day living needs. Since your From Wolverhampton, I would suggest you also give Sandwell Vision Services a call. They can be helpful if they have the resources. Best of luck anyway. -------------------------------------------------- From: "william lomas" <lomaswilliam@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, April 08, 2009 8:41 AM To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [access-uk] RNIB grants > > I read that RNIB provide a grant to blind and partially sighted people, > to help them buy equipment.
