Jackie:

I have noticed the same of late using version 9 of JAWS, but
not yet formed a sufficiently good analysis of when why and
how.

Subject: [access-uk] Re: Power Braille on USB?

Guys

On the subject of a PowerBraille display, I am having a
problem with my 80--cell unit. It was working perfectly for
a long time on both Parallell and Serial. But over recent
months, I have to sort of kick-start it. By that, I mean
that I have to keep unloading JAWS and then re-loading it in
order to get the PowerBraille to work. It is very
intermittent and frankly annoying, but I don't think there
is anything wrong with it as such.

I was using it on XP Home, but have reverted to trying it
out on my old Windows 98 PC, just to see how it behaves
there. I still get the same problem, where I have to keep
loading JFW to see if it picks up the display.

I tried it on Windows 98 just to see if there was a conflict
with the Operating System, or the display itself. I have
also looked at the manual, and can't find anything offering
a factory reset to see if that makes a difference.

Anyone got any suggestions please? Like David, I was hoping
to use a Serial to USB converter to give it a go on my Vista
laptop, but I can't even get it running consistently on my
other machines, so am a long way off hope there (smile).

Thanks for any pointers.

Jackie
