The message means that when you put your finger on a letter, VO will tell you what letter it is, it will not show on the screen and it will not repeat it once entered, that's why you have to be slow, at least at first and concentrate on the job at hand. but it's perfectly doable. As for ITunes, I think there are tutorials on applevis.com but the thing to do is using your tab key a lot to find the different sections and options in the programme, experiment with key presses, try to make a note of what you achieve and, most of all, try to have a positive attitude towards the beast. It's easy for me, I can study the thing whenever I want, must be frustrating when you only have a few hours here and there to acquaint yourself with it. I pick things up as I go along and if, one day it doesn't work for me, well, I go for a long walk and try another day...Paris or was it Rome wasn't built in one day you know...
Not a lot of use this, I know, but just hope it gives a little comfort. Cheers now, Marie----- Original Message ----- From: "Ron Sears" <r.sears1@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

It is displayed as white circles so it cannot be seen - so if you do notwant people to hear your password then you must use some sort of earphones.Larry & Elliot GD (Guide Dog) London, UK -----Original Message-----From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf OfJackie Cairns Sent: 29 January 2011 16:12 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: ipod touch Hi Andy Oh yes, I use iTunes, but on Martin's Mac. I've transferred music onto my iPod Touch and iPod Nano from the Mac, but I just don't like the actual program much. I am perhaps old-fashioned, but I like copy and paste in Windows Explorer, and iTunes doesn't do things that way. But I've used my iPod Touch more for the Tune In radio program and other apps than anything else yet. In fact, I've had it hooked up to my Bose computer speakers allafternoon to listen to Five Live and the football commentaries as you can'tget some of the content on the Sonata as has been discussed already. You have to use iTunes, and put your music in its library, then synchronisethe iPod Touch or whatever with the PC or Mac. Good luck Andy. Patience is not one of my strong points whenit comes to software that doesn't appear to be intuitive. If you don't use Itunes on your computer, then it sounds like you haven't got round to tackling putting music on to the Touch yet? This is because, when you first connect your iPod device to the Mac or PC, iTunes picks up the fact it is connected as your product has a serialnumber.Once you create your account, you would only need to type in your password as a rule to purchase something. And, if you don't buy a wireless keyboard - which isn't compulsory by any means - you would need to type it in on the iPod Touch itself. Now I appreciate this sounds daunting, but I did it, and I know others who have done likewise. As you type in the password, it doesn't tell you what you have typed, just clicks or sometimes says "bullet". You need to use a password with at least one capital letter, numbers and lower case letters, all of which have to add up to more than six characters. Sadly, you have to use iTunes to transfer music over from your PC to the iPod Touch. I say sadly because I don't like iTunes, but we have to lump it, so there's no use grumbling about it. Remember too that you would have to type in your broadband wireless key so you can benefit from the WiFi around your home. I typed this in on four occasions before I got it right and managed to go live. Honestly Andy, I thought I would never be able to use an Apple device not that long ago, but it's amazing how you do learn to navigate a flat screen, and I can't leave mine alone. I hope this helps. I don't wish to buy music from Itunes, I just want to put my own music collection, and some books from Audible on to the Touch, and to buy some apps from their apps store. I've listened to several podcasts about the Touch, and understand how to use the virtual onscrreen keyboard, but again if I've got it right, when it comes to purchasing from the apps store, I'd need to enter my password, and if I didn't have a keyboard, would this be impossible using the touch screen? Is it the same as password fields online where when characters are entered, JFW just says star star star? If that is the case, then this forces us to buy a keyboard whether we want one or not. They call it your ID. Your Email address is your ID, and your password you have to use when you log into the App Store or iTunes when you are going to make a purchase. If you create an account online on the Apple website, it's easier than doing it on the iPod Touch. But once you've done it, you just have to enter your password on the iPod Touch to purchase an application. Does that help or make sense? That's where the keyboard comes in handy! I don't use iTunes on the PC, so I'm afraid I can't help you regarding the version of JAWS you need. There were times during the last week when I thought of giving up. I have persevered however and have now purchased the Apple keyboard. I have not purchased any apps yet because I can't remember my password. I did however try YouTube and pressed the wrong button and got a celebrity chef cooking naked, not much good for me,smile Is there a way of changing my password?
