Hi Sandra,

In my experience SAPI4 breaks entirely when one of the individual
SAPI4 engines breaks. Or in English, it may be that one SAPI4 voice on
your system is broken, and that's stopping all your SAPI4 voices
working.

Usually this happens when someone installs something that puts on a
broken SAPI4 voice. Have you installed or upgraded anything recently?
Before reformatting everything, try uninstalling any programs you've
recently installed. Anything from Nuance, ScanSoft or RealSpeak,
including Dragon NaturallySpeaking and Omnipage OCR are likely
suspects.
