Thanks, John, for this extra info. Think I'm floating well now! <Smiles> -- Carol P ---- Original Message ---- From: "John Gregory" <jgm.gregory@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, December 10, 2011 2:34 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS -CHECKING SCAN RESULTS
Carol, MSE updates the definition files automatically. However, if you want to do a manual update check then just click on the MSE icon ('computer status protected' in the system tray and wait for it to open. Once open tab to the page tabs (it will more than likely tab to the 'home' tab first. Move the right arrow key once and then tab once to 'update' and hit enter. MSE will update definitions ifavailable. When MSE has scanned your computer, use the JAWS key plus b to read the window and it should tell you that no virus was found, or, if a virus is found, then what the virus is and what you want to do with it or what MSE has done with it. You can also view the 'history' sheet by tabbing to the tabs and right arrow twice and tab once. If there are any viruses that MSE has found, quarentined etc, theywill be shown on this tabsheet.John. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of CarolPearson Sent: 10 December 2011 13:22To: Access UK Mailing List Subject: [access-uk] MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS -CHECKING SCAN RESULTSHi all, I installed Essentials yesterday and am liking itssimplicity.I did a scan when installed but havef no idea what happened to the results of that scan. Can anyone tell mewhere to find them, please?Jackie, I followed your comments about updating, going to Microsoft Update and searching for MSE but then got lost in the maze. I've ended up setting for a quick scan each day to ensure I get them until someone can point me to aclear path for updates ... <Smiles>Thanks to those who recommended it. I like it's simple to use interface and it's running fine on my olderdesktop computer.-- Carol P ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-followinglink:- **[mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, clickon the ** immediately-following link:-** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-followinglink:- **[mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, clickon the ** immediately-following link:-** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
