Hi,

The issue with some of these viruses is that they cannot just be removed =
by a
simple virus scanner, because the virus can do registry tweaking etc. =
The
virus scanner will scan files for known viruses, then give you the =
results.
If you have a specific virus which is a worm, quite a lot of the new =
ones
need specific removal tools to get rid of the infection. These scan =
more
thougherly through the files, and can undo registry changes that are =
made to
the system. AVG do removal tools free on their website, Mcafee though =
also
do a removal tool called Stinger, which will remove quite a lot of the =
known
viruses. I quite often use this tool if I am fixing a system and I =
don't
know the virus that is on the system, and I don't want to have to trawl
through the different cleaners to find the right one.

However, AVG is still is as good as it once was, and I wouldn't ditch =
it.

Andrew.
