Sorry, joining this thread late.  What does the bank suggest is the way that
screenreader users are supposed to deal with the new system?

the image is real test but there are circles that move around the number as
if to highlight it.  The number is very large and  only appears after you
have received the phone call

Why is it a pain. I did a lot of testing with the Halifax team in Halifax
itself prior to becoming Lloyds and the system works very well. The only
time you'll really get called would be if you forget your username and
password, at which point the system will call you on which ever phone number
you choose, then just enter the digits on the screen. It is all JAWS
friendly. I've never been asked phoned in any other situation such as
setting up a payment.

What is the new security procedure?
When you set up a new recipient, credit card payment or standing order, we
may call you to make sure the instruction is genuinely coming from you. All
you'll need is a telephone near you. You'll be able to choose which number
we call you on, provided it's a number we already hold for you. You'll
receive an automated call asking you to confirm details about your
transaction and then to enter a four digit number that will appear on your
computer screen into your telephone keypad. The whole process will take less
than a minute and you can see it on our
