Not sure what your PC configuration is, so the following may not be specific,
but the principle is the same:
Changing display settings in Windows 7
1. Click on the Windows key and type 'control' into the search box and press
enter;
2. In Control Panel, cursor down until you come to 'Adjust Screen Resolution'
and hit enter;
3. The screen Resolution panel will appear;
4. Tab down twice and JAWS should tell you what your screen resolution is,
i.e. 800 x 600, 1024 x 780, etc etc;
5. Press the down arrow once which will cause JAWS to focus on the adjustment
bar, press left or right arrow to increase or decrease the resolution. Press
tab to go back to read the setting, i.e. 800 x 600. Repeat the above steps
until you get the resolution you want. Suggest going down to 800 x 600 and see
how that works with JAWS; If it is OK, then try increasing the resolution until
you reach the stage where JAWS stutters again.
6. Once you have the resolution you want, tab to 'OK' and hit enter. You may
be asked if you want to change the settings, just choose 'yes'.
If it is a resolution problem, then setting the monitor screen to 800 x 600
first should let you determine if that is the problem. The higher resolutions
very much depend on the capability of your graphics card, but most will have
800 x 600 and 1024 x 780.

I am sorry it was a bit vague..
Jaws is stammering and also refusing to read things like the fields on
outlook.
It happened once before and it was because the display settings were too
high, will try what you suggest.

Hi Jeff,
Would help if you could give more of a description of what is happening,
but if what you want to do is to return JAWS to the way it was when you first
installed it, then do the following (which includes a test to see if it is the
default configuration settings file) that is causing the problem.
This is taken from the Freedom Scientific website and refers to JAWS8, but
have tried it and it workds with J12. I also assume that you are using Windows
7.
To run JAWS in default mode without any other scripts:
1. Press the Windows key and type jaws12 /default - do not press enter at
this point;
2. Press JAWS key and F4 to close the current JAWS session and press enter
to stop JAWS;
3. Press enter again to load JAWS in default mode;
At this point check to see if the problem has resolved itself, i.e. that
you can do what you want to do and that the display problem has gone away. If
everything is now OK, it is probably the default configuration script that is
the problem. To resolve this do the following:
1. Open the start menu;
2. Go to 'all programs' and open the submenu;
3. Go to the JAWS 12 (or whatever your version is) and open the submenu;
4. Go to 'explore JAWS' and open the submenu;
5. Go to 'explore my settings' and press enter; this opens my computer with
a list of files and folders
6. Scroll down until you find default.jcf;
7. Delete this file and then reboot.
JAWS should start normally and the settings wizard will appear for you to
set your default settings as you did when you first installed JAWS.
Hope this works. If it doesn't the only thing I can suggest is to uninstall
and reinstall JAWS.
