Thanks, Aman. It is very reassuring to know that it doesn't actually take
up much bandwidth.
Insidentally, I believe the new Ipod has an FM radio receiver, so it's not
that Apple are adverse to it.

Hi, Barry and all.
First, you are quite right that the FM radio receiving hardware is actually
included in the iPhone. I would be surprised, knowing Apple, if it were
activated in a firmware release, they would have done this, if they were
going to, for the iPhone 4S.
Having said that, I don't know how much it matters given that there are so
many apps for streaming radio over the phone's data connection, and given
that radio streaming takes up fairly little data, particularly compared to
video streaming. I say this living in a country where data is still quite
expensive. Despite that, though, if you have even a few hundred megabytes of
mobile data, you can listen to medium-quality stations for hours.
I hope that's of use.
