Try the Apex wheel as well, John. That could be good for you.

It would be interesting also to know if you can send files to your Apex from the iPhone or vice versa ...

hi there carol yes you can see it on the braille display
and it speaks it as well just like having the speech on
the apex really. so i have connected them via blue tooth
not tried the usb not sure if that would work. it is nice
to go online and have the braille display read out what
is there. going to look at the tetheering now which will
allow me to have the apex and iphone connected and the
apex could use the iphone as a modem. yes it certainly is
fasinating. as someone said it is a big learning curve as
when the keyboard comes on the i-phone you have to
visualize it in front of you. but if you flick say to the
right you will get g then h then j then k then l it did
take me a while to get used to it but with the blue tooth
keyboard it is so much better to use and type in anything
you want.

This is getting fascinating, John.

Do you hear the icon announced or can you read what it
is on your display having done dot 4 and space? Are you
connected via Bluetooth or USB? Do the information
messages your phone sends come up on the
braille display also?

Sorry about all these questions but I'm genuinely
interested and so you're not going to be wasting time by
giving me the answers here.

Thanks very much.

Carol

Hi Carol yes on both accounts I can actually type the
message and on
the home screen I can move to the next icon by pressing
space with
dot four. the only thing I cannot seem to do is get out
of an app
back to the home screen this I have to do on the phone.
wonder if
anyone knows how to get to the home screen it could be
space with h
but of course on the apex that will take you to help.
cheers now.

Sorry, John, but I don't want to misquote you on this
one!

Can you use the Apex on the opening screen, for example,
to find something you want to go to?

Carol Getting rather keen on Iphone!

Hi Carol Well not sure about humanware but I have just
connected my
apex and i-phone and on the apex I can send a text
message using the
apex braille keyboard.
"by "what do dealers know eh"?" "smile" "smile" "smile"
so it can be done. At 15:03 28/08/2010, you wrote:
Thanks John. I'm told it doesn't work by Humanware, so
go on and tell me differently ...

Hi there I will check again but it is amazing what you
can do with the braille note apex with using it as the
braille display. you can read the ibooks but to turn the
page is difficult. to move forward in a page you press
space with o which of course takes you to the options in
the apex. the apps though are amazing so cheap and most
of them are accessible. will have another play with the
braille. what we have to remember is things will get
much better.
cheers.

John,

I really would like you to explain what things you can
do easier if you connect a braille display. As I
understand it, you can't actually write your message
using the BrailleNote, can you?
Have you thought about one of those (whatever they call
them) template type things that go over the screen and
enable you to position your hands better?

What extra apps are you using?
