I'd recommend shutting your computer off entirely to save on power consumption, as well as to prolong the life of the machine itself. As to the risk of being hacked, it's all relative. A machine that's turned off can't be hacked, so if the machine is on, you naturally increase the risk. That said, your machine remains as protected during sleep or stand by as it does whilst in use. That's nothing to do with the state of the machine, just how good your firewall etc. is. Good advice, but not necessarily for the reasons given I should think. According to her, we should shut it down to save both memory and hard disk usage. Also, we could be hacked because the Windows session hasn't really ended when we put our computers in standby or sleep, depending on the version of Windows. What do you all think of this? Full truth or a complete myth? I'd love to hear from you. -- Chris Hallsworth e-mail: christopherhallsworth71@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx msn: ch9675@xxxxxxxxxxx skype: chrishallsworth7266 klango: chrishallsworth ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
