If your friend has successfully done this on a previous phone, then I
would recommend he checks his settings again, particularly the password
he has to enter which will just say star star star each time he inputs a
character. If that password has got one digit or letter wrong, it won't
work.
As it seems he is with Vodafone, has he contacted their Customer Services
team on 191 to see if they could suggest anything? I know that when you
set up an account if you are a Vodafone customer, you have to put
send.vodafone.net for your outgoing information.

Having never used anything like that I can't really say, except he had
no trouble on his other Nokia phone and has never had a computer, he
could recieve and send emails and recieve attachments no problem.
the Email address ends vodaphone.net if that's any help.

I'm slightly puzzled as to how your friend could get his Emails on the
phone if he doesn't have computer access anyway. I send and receive
Emails using TALKS on my mobile, but I have put my account details into
the setup fields. Your friend would need to do that if he has an Email
account with a provider in order to be able to use his phone to send
and receive them. If, however, he only has a Hotmail account, I'm not
sure how he would use it as I've had no success with Hotmail on the
phone at all.

Does anyone, by any chance have a Nokia N73 phone with talks on and
could help my friend. He has had talks on another phone, but has
upgraded and can't seem to read his emails. The place he bought the
phone say it's nothing to do with them and the bloke he sent the phone
to to have the talks put on it says it's nothing to do with him, so
he's really stuck and very depressed about the whole thing. I've
never had talks, so can't help either.
He does not have any computer access, so ideally, if there is anyone
out there who would be kind enough to contact him by phone and help
out, I know he'd be really grateful. Many thanks to anyone who could
help, please contact me off list for details.
