Alison,

Right click one of the music tracks in question>expand Open with from the
dropdown menu (H)>click on Choose another app>highlight iTunes in the popup
dialog>tab to the Always open this app to open. checkbox and check
it>finally, tab to the ok button and click it.

This works for changing the default application for most of the file types,
media or otherwise. If any of the above isn't clear, give us a shout.
