Indeed but one would hate to think think they were. Now on the other hand if they are not and not visually impaired or blind or whatever, then that makes it all the worse if they knew they were seling to someone whose vision is greatly impaired. ----- Original Message ----- From: "martin wilsher" <m.wilsher@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

I think a legal redress might not be costly if the individual seeking thelegal advice is on benefit. I sincerely hope the person who sold to Andy isnot someone from this list. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barbara Wilson" <barkingbabs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, November 08, 2009 9:07 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Genuin Windows Validation continued.I am sure the list moderator will take a very dim view of this as he will not want people ripping off others on the list. A note to us all Ibelieve. However, Andy, if you have copies of Emails from selling saying what he was selling you and you did not receive the goods you purchased, then even though it was a private sale, I believe you can still seek legalredress.Probably a costly business unfortunately. Thanks everyone for all your advice. I've not yet contacted the seller as there is another on-going issue which has not yet been resolved. The computer I purchased from him for £150, required an engineer to take it apart and reload all the drivers and OS. The computer arrived at my address in a cardboard box with no packaging. When I opened the box, the right side panel was off and I could not find any screws. The computer continuously crashed duringboot-up. The engineer said that everything inside was filthy and most ofthe connections were slack. The hard drive was hanging off and the computer required to be cleaned, taken apart, tested and software reinstalled. He charged me £ 70. So I paid £225 for a home made xp home computer which was a few years old. I felt that although I had been conned, there was no way, that I'd get my money back from a re-cycle itlist member. I was for this. reason prepared to bite the bullet and takeit. However, this new thing about counterfeit operating system has just sickened me. I got Pauline to look at the CD and the package and she says that both are blank. Neither is a Microsoft product, sounfortunately, the chances are that I was also sold an illegal copy of XPhome. Microsoft advise that this problem can be resolved for £99, which would bring the cost of my second hand xp home computer, which incidentally, is home built, up to £324. Am I going crazy or what?I have written to Graham, rather than the seller, to give him a chance tooffer to pay for the OS. If I contact the seller directly, , I'll just end up loosing my temper. Very best wishes.
