Hi Chris

Very few laptops give more than three or four hours battery life at the most. For great battery life the netbooks are best.

Aw thanks for your thoughts. So the battery life is probably a concern then
if she wishes to use it whilst being mobile. Chat soon.

Chris,

I've had an Advent laptop for nearly two years and have had no problems with
it at all. I like the keyboard layout myself as the keys are all of a
reasonable size and well laid out. There are no extras on the keyboard,
such as keys to start extra applications, which can sometimes get in the
way.

Another plus point for this laptop is that it didn't come with a lot of
extra software installed.

The one thing I really don't like is its battery life which has always been extremely short. I hardly ever use it without plugging it into the mains as
a result. I'm lucky if I get an hour and a half out of it, and this is
after tweaking the power options to eke out the battery as much as possible.

The keyboard layout could of course be different now from when I bought my
machine, but I don't regret buying it, although I would probably not go for
Vista again if I had the choice. It has some temperamental quirks which I
could do without.

Caroline.

Hello all,
This isn't for me, but my father is looking for a laptop to give to my
sister for Christmas. This is so she can do college work and perhaps a bit
of online activity. He saw an Advent Rumour 1500 laptop presumably on
Amazon, and I'm just wondering what your thoughts are on Advent laptops in
general? As for me, I don't like where they position keys like insert,
delete, home, end, etc. As I have never owned an Advent laptop I can only
tell you what I saw in the shops. My father's looking for the cheapest
laptop possible. They all seem to have 3GB onboard RAM, 500GB HDD and either
Windows Vista or Windows 7, mainly Windows Vista.
Thanks for your thoughts.
