I got a Western Digital Passport 120 GB drive for about £50 or so recently and it has been faultless. I went for this model for my laptop because it does not require an external power supply as most of the larger capacity drives do. Simply plug the USB2 in and off you go. hth Mark Threadgold The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act... -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of David Russell Sent: 07 December 2007 08:26 To: Access-Uk@Freelists. Org Subject: [access-uk] External hard drive Hi Folks, I am considering purchasing an external hard drive for my pc in order to back up everything just in case of pc failure. I am amazed to find that you can now get up to a 500 GB drive for just over £70. I have even found one for under thirty pounds but I have never heard of the manufacturer, so will not be taking a chance on that one. I want one which is easy to use, external rather than internal, and runs from a normal USB connection. Is there anything else I should particularly look for and are there any manufacturers people have had good experiences with. Freecom seem to get good reviews. any thoughts would be appreciated.
