Hi all,

On the system at home we've recently installed an Epson Perfection 2480
Photo scanner together with Kurzweil 1000. On a couple of occasions
subsequently we've experienced blue screen crashes. The most recent was
last night while I was scanning text in k1000 with JFW running in the
background. The previous crash occurred while my wife was using the
system with no specialist programs running. On both occasions, the file
identified as causing the problem was jawsvid.dll. However, the
diagnosis given in an error report, generated after I'd reported the
crash said that it had been caused by a driver for a new piece of
hardware. In addition to the scanner we've also recently installed
software relating to my wife's palmtop. My questions are these.

1. If, as I suspect, it's the scanner driver which is causing the
problem, the advice is to uninstall the driver. However, presumably
this would then presumably render the scanner unserviceable. So how
should I proceed?

2. Would turning Jaws V5 off while K1000 is running be likely to
improve the situation?

3. Any other advice or suggestions to make things better?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers now.

Ian
