Thanks to all, all sorted now, discovered fiddling gently with the unit that
the front unclips. Quite easy then to get at the jam inside, a little more
tricky to put the front back on, should have had three hands but got there
after about ten minutes: at times swearing at the thing at others cajoling it
to get into line.
You learn everyday!

press the button on the front of the writer, if that doesn't work, open it
up at the top, and there should be a little lever on the left hand side of the
machine inside it. pull that up and remove the labels backwards.

Appealing to the lateral thinkers among you! a label has not detached
properly from my machine and a little piece of label is jammed in there.
Inserting another label doesn't make it spew it out, can just about feel it,
broke 2 finger nails trying to grab it and tweezers only pushed it further in.
Any other way I can try? I rely heavily on this brilliant piece of kit and will
hate having to do without it for months if I have to send it away to be
repaired.
No useful eyes around at the moment...Urgent letter to send therefore to be
addressed...Please help!
