Yes I agree that the amplifier and speakers are the key to good quality sound, but nevertheless eth higher quality of the laser, plus the fact that you are usually feeding into a multi-channel sound system makes all the difference to the final impression that you actually hear. The fact is that in order to reproduce sound of equal quality to that reproduced on a DVD player through a multi-channel system you would need to spend a lot more money to get a hifi system that could perform to an equal standard.

Best Wishes

Hiya

I'm not sure what makes you think you'd get better sound from playing CDs on a DVD player rather than on an ordinary hifi. The sound reproduction is dependent upon the quality of amplifier and speakers you use. The only difference between a CD player and DVD player is the wavelength of the laser and optics as a finer beam is required to read the data which is more densly packed on a DVD disc.

Just something that I forgot to mention in my last post, and that is that, you can of course get much better quality out of your CDs when they are played on a DVD Player than on an ordinary Hifi system.

Hi all -

Looking to buy a dvd player with surround sound; anyone found one reasonably blind friendly? It's not just for movies, but TV series too, which can be tricky to access as they contain lots of titles or chapters. I can play them on my PC, but is there a reasonably accessible stand alone player out there that any one can recommend?
