HI Catherine: first of all, have you got a hardware dvd writer on board or externally? If not, you will not be able to write to dvd discs. it is a diffrent format to cdr/cdrw. the dvd format enables up to four gb of data to be written to one dvd. yes there are dvd and dvdr discs, and they work in a similar way to cdr/cdrw discs. hth Hope to hear from you soon.
