Yes, there are writable and re-writable DVDs too.
As regards plus or minus type, this will largely depend on
the make and model of DVD burner you have. If you don't
have the DVD manual to hand, you will most likely find this
information on the manufacturer's web site.

Hi,
I'm wanting to back up all sorts of files from my computer
and thinking to do it onto DVD. I haven't done this before
with DVD and wondering - have looked online and there seem
to be DVD-R discs and DVD+R discs. What's the difference
between these?
Also is it like CDs in that there are writeables and
rewriteables with DVDs?
