Thanks for the replies guys.
Mo, using either of those cloning packages, can the windows 128Gb partition
be cloned onto the 500Gb disk without it creating a 128Gb partition on it
and rendering the rest of the disk space inaccessible? I have used image for
windows many years ago but only for restoring a backup to the original disk.
I also have a disk cloning device which you plug in the two disks and press
the button and off it goes, but this will reduce the 500 disk to a 128 disk
as it will replicate the partition table and you then lose the rest of the
disk space - I know as I've done this by mistake before!

Hi Mark.
I would Set it up first, then clone to the new disk. macrium reflect or
image for windows from terabyte unlimited should both do the job for
cloning. Drop me a note off list if you would like any further assistance.
cheers,
Mo.

I've just ordered a new HP laptop and intend to change the 128Gb Windows
disk for a 500Gb SSD.
Am I better to clone the Windows 10 onto the new formatted disk before the
first run of Windows, or once it's been run and has a basic setup?
Suitable cloning software recommendations would also be appreciated.
Many thanks,
