If permissions are given, you can "Save as" text on the Files Menu, but this is often not the case.
I have also found sometimes I've been able to get a quick text version by selecting all the text, copying it into my clipboard and then pasting it into a text file. It's worth a go if you don't want docs converted often and/or want it quickly.

Well Alexander last time, a few days ago I was discussing this and Ibrahim kindly suggested Abbeyy Fine Reader. I do not have the link at present but you can download a trial version. That said it will not be enough to meet your requirements as the trial only allows convertion of 50 pages. Perhaps others on the list who have the software will translate it for you.
