Oh, and this from a person who's happy to use an iPad Air. Sometimes, its not about having a pocket mainframe in your cargos, it's having a device that actually performs for you and delivers time after time when it matters.

Just a few things to be aware of it you are thinking about Beats headphones:

1: When you buy a pair of Beats, you’re paying for style and branding.
If that’s what you want, then go for it.
2: The build cost for a $199 pair of Beats headphones is just under $20. The rest is brand name and a big fat cheque to a rapper.
3: There are an extraordinary large amount of fake beats out there; even a hifi mag doing a test didn't realise they had a fake pair. That said, when they got a genuine pair, they still could hardly tell the difference!
4: Over a third of the weight of a pair of Beats headphones is just lumps of metal designed to make it feel like a more premium product.
5: Going back to point #1, you will never find a pair of Beats being used in a studio or by an audio engineer.

Have a quick google - there are plenty of review sites where you can find lists of 10 headphones with a better sound at half the price of a pair of Beats.

All of that said, if they feel and sound good to you for the price, go ahead.
But just bear in mind they're a budget headphone with some added lumps of metal and a heck of a good marketing team :)

Hi Janet

I bought a pair of Beats on-ear headphones a couple of months ago, and
I love them. The on-ear variety come as Bluetooth or wired, and I
went for the latter because I want to use them across all devices
including my hifi system. The cable has up and down volume on it
which works when connected to your iOS device, but obviously not if
connected to anything other than Apple gear. The nice thing is that
the cable is detachable which means it can be replaced. The end that
goes into your device is angled, known I think as a banana plug?

The Beats on-ear are really comfortable with good padding and a nice sound.
They aren't cheap though at £169 for the wired pair. But they are
small enough to carry as they fold down. The cups fold and the whole
thing fits nicely into a case you get with them. They also come in a
few colours to match the new range of iPods.

I hope this helps?

Hi Jackie

please can you give me a little more information about beats
headphones? I won't go into too much detail but I find it very hard
to get a pair of headphones that suit my ears.

iPhone5s at the moment.
Do you know if the cases for the 5 will be all right for the 5s as well?.
I was searching on Amazon.co.uk

Hi

The OtterBox Defender also has a plastic plate with a very well
sprung belt clip on the back that you can optionally attach to the
rear of the case. I put this on when I am wearing trousers or a
skirt that doesn't have pockets. I love this case even though it is
bulky. Not sure I would

use any other type now or in the future.

You can also have an extra glass protector put on over the screen.
This protects the screen without making the phone really bulky. I
do agree the otter box is probably the best protection but the
iPhone 6 is quite big with an otter box on it.

The extra glass protector certainly worked when my daughter dropped
her phone.

Hi Mike,

I agree with the case recommendations of Eleanor and Jackie.
I would like to mention 3 criteria which I think are essential in a
good iPhone case.

1. Screen Protection--It is very important to have screen protection
in addition to a film type screen protector. Something more
substantial is required to provide ultimate protection.
2. Complete enclosure--I think that the back, all side, top and
bottom of

the device need to be enclosed. This is provided with the case
recommended, but is also present in most other cases.
3. Raised Bezel--This is the surround of the cases opening which is
raised so that when the phone is laid on its front, the screen
doesn't touch the surface at all. The raised bezel creates a space
between the phone's screen, and any surface it may be laid upon.

The case recommended meets all of the criteria mentioned, but I
thought it may be helpful to point out the above information as you
could then evaluate other cases.
Personally, I have found leather wallet style cases to be very good,
and they also usually meet the above criteria.
However, you need to make sure the closing latch on wallet cases is
substantial, some are loose and allow the wallet to open un-expectedly.

Kind regards,
Niall

You can get OtterBox Defender cases from Amazon, roughly "20.

Hello folks,

I have done what I once swore I'd never do and bought a second-hand
iPhone 5s. Didn't get on with my Android Sony Experia.

It currently has no case. Does anybody have any recommendations for
a case for an iPhone 5s which will afford the greatest protection
from drops, carrying around in pockets etc? No Miffy or Hello Kitty
jibes please concom)

Mike
