[access-uk] Apple store and credit cards

Hi Guys,
My grandaughter received an iPod Touch from Santa but she can't download
anything from the Apple store as she is too young to own a credit card.
She wanted to download some free Apps but it kept asking for credit card details
which she didn't have.
Surely there's a way to download freebies as there's bound to be millions of
kids who own iPods.
Has anyone got any suggestions on how it's done?
