Just to check - Are you using a Micro SD card?
The Fire and most phones and tablets take a micro SD card and not a standard
old type SD card.
A lot of cards are now sold as Micro as the norm with the old wider SD card
holder also supplied as an adaptor.  This allows it to be put into PCs etc.

Thanks Iain, Will ask my friend to take a look as memory card still
seems too wide.

Mary
Original message:

That sounds like the right card. On my Fire, there is a card slot on
the right hand side towards the top.

Hi Mary,

Fire tablets take microSD cards, not full-sized SD cards.

Hi guys,

I feel really stupid today but I am just unable to see how my SD card
fits in to the Amazon Fire 8 tablet.   I know where the thing should
go, near the top on the right side but the memory card seems way too
wide.  Is there a tray which pulls out, or do I need some sort of
adaptor?  I purchased the memory card which Amazon suggests.

Regards

Mary
