I fully agree with Steve about Draytek routers.
When I was working I did use one then for my own purposes at home. Then my
employers changed their technical stance and insisted that any remote access
would have to go via a VPN connection. For this they sent a technician to my
home to ensure that my VPN connection was secure for them. It then continued to
work until I retired giving me full access to all my working environment as if
I were in the office. I then continued to use my Draytek router after I had
retired.
When I moved to BT’s FTTC service I initially used the BT home hub as my
existing Draytek router did not allow for that kind of connection. I did not
like this for various reasons, it was not as fully accessible and it would be
updated by BT at their will, rather than asking me if I wanted to allow an
update.
I then researched the Draytek routers for one with FTTC capability and
purchased one. This keeps my home environment secure and gives me secure
wireless access at home with access control on it which is as secure as it
needs to be for a home environment. The router has a good firewall on it and
virus protection built in. The Draytek routers have been fully accessible with
Window-Eyes and now NVDA.
As a business router it does far more than I use, but I am happy with it
knowing that I do not use it fully. After all, there is little difference
between that and my limited use of my mobile phone which has much more
capability in it than I actually use and cost me a lot more money than my
router.

Hi,
No, the router simply acts as a VPN tunnel and hides your IP address, so it is
its own server.
Look up Draytek routers for ideas on price.
I love Draytek anyway, I don’t use the VPN on it, but its interface is
accessible and it is a great router.
All the best

Hi Steve
Two questions for you, firstly what is the outlay on such a Rueter, secondly
who provides the VPN service. If the Rueter comes with unlimited VPN service as
standard, I presume that is hosted by someone as part of your purchase?

Hi,
Why not buy a router that has VPN as part of it. My Draytek has VPN and it
cost me precisely nothing for unlimited service.
Business grade routers tend to have VPN built into them.

Hi Barry.
I use Tunnel Bear VPN which offers you 500 mb of free service per month,
irrespective of whether you take out a paid plan with them. They are the only
VPN to my knowledge that offers clean, accessible clients on all the major
platforms including pc, Android and iOS. You can get a year service, they call
it the grizzly bear naturally for £59.99 per year.
All the best, Ibrahim.

Subject: [access-uk] Accessible VPN
Hi all
I’m sorry for cross posting, but this question is time sensitive.
Are there any VPN that are accessible with Jaws 19? I’ve got a special offer
on Avast SecureLine VPN, but I don’t know if it is accessible. Anyone know?
Thanks in anticipation.
Cheers
Barry
