Hi
Jonathan did a review of the H140, not 340, but I have produced a review and a description of installation on the H340 for this month's Infotech if anyone receives that.

jonathon mosen also did an audio review of an h340 running the rockbox
software. i've pasted his message announcing the review in below.

Hi all, recently I purchased an Iriver H140 MP3 player, and installed the
talking Rockbox firmware on it. I review and demonstrate this on
MosenExplosion.com. You can listen to the review on the site, or if you
prefer, subscribe to my bloggy bits podcast and receive it in MP3. I hope
you enjoy the review and find it helpful.

I personally think it is very very good, and assuming you have installed a
voice file, the menus will speak.

In addition to voicing the menu items, Rockbox will spell file or folder
names, or there is a relatively complicated procedure to get it to speak
these synthetically using words. However, the easiest way to voice file
and folder names I found is to use the voice clips feature.
I have recorded my voice announcing the name of each artist and album
title
as these are folder names, and so when you arrow to a specific artist or
album, the artist or album title will be automatically announced.

The best thing to do as a starting point is to visit my Blind iPod portal,
at
www.hartgen.org/blindipod.html
which contains links to go directly to the installation instructions and
the
voice files on the Rockbox site.
