Hi Ted,

Is your friend using AVG free or AVG Professional?

I ask this as, when I used AVG free, there were settings for not scanning incoming or Outgoing e-mails for viruses.

I think your friend has the setting for scanning either incoming or outgoing messages, or both, set to scan every message checked so that AVG adds a notification to the message.

I am sorry I can not remember exactly where this setting is in AVG free, as I am using the professional version, but I am sure someone else on the list will be able to confirm if I am correct.
