Stuart will be well aware that I'm not in the process of reformulating
my position here Joe -- he and I have already gone through this at
great length, and tacitly agreed to differ. The view I'm presenting is
in no way original to me, but a view to which I have gradually (and
often reluctantly) acceded over many years of debate with far greater
intellects than mine, which just leaves me to continue testing for its
weaknesses. Needless to say that I don't come across many weaknesses
any more, but not infrequently do I engage in debate with people that
are going through the same difficulties that I have gone through in the
past.
