What is the client OS? If it's a Pro OS (doesn't require a reboot for IP change), then I would think you could just edit the registry as the last entry in a login script.. The IP would change as the desktop loads.. There would be one or two seconds of lost connectivity between there, just make sure that no network apps load during that time.. Do all your drive mappings in the login script before you change the IP, I would think everything would be good... ?? Test it out, let us know. :) -----Original Message----- From: Jim Kenzig http://thin.net [mailto:jimkenz@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, July 06, 2004 2:43 PM To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [windows2000] Re: assign IP by logon? Why not just use ISA server? Then you can specify internet access based on windows account, not IP address... ?? -----Original Message----- From: Jim Kenzig http://thin.net [mailto:jimkenz@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, July 06, 2004 1:58 PM To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [windows2000] assign IP by logon? I know that you can have multiple IP's on one machine but I was wondering if anyone has come up with a way to assign a specific IP address to a user once they are logged on if there are multiple ones on the machine. The theory would be that user A would log on and get the 1st IP and User B would log on and get the second IP. You could then use firewall or routing tables to specify what each user could access. I suppose you could probably change the IP in a startup script but the timing would have to be perfect or you would lose your connection. Is there a utility out there that already does this?
