Other people haven't had as much trouble with them, but every product I have
ever used from them has either had driver issues, or an inordinately short
life-span...

The off-brand I prefer is NetGear. I have one of their 24 port switches at
home (FS-524A) and it works GREAT. Prior to that, I had an 8 port switch
from them and it worked for nearly 5 years. Plus they have nice sturdy
metal cases, not the cheap plastic ones you find everywhere else.

Wired NICs (and even Wireless (the NetGear is in the wife's laptop)) are all
3COM. I just couldn't afford a 3COM switch or AP, so I gave NetGear a shot
and was quite pleased.

Why stay away from linksys?

I have the NetGear MA40-something.. Had it turned off for over a year and
when I plugged it back in, it went right back to work. Two antennas, decent
coverage range, good compatibility (I have one 3COM card and one NetGear
card).

Whatever you get, my only recommendation is stay away from LinkSys...

Hey guys,

Do you have any recommendation (for a home user) on Wireless Access Points
(802.11 b)? Cost/Benefit

Regards,

Eduardo
