Just done an IBM Fast T200 SAN for a client recently.

The best selling point for a SAN in my eyes is the ability to centralize and
cope with data growth. Also if you go serverless backups your backup windows
disappear completely.

Classic example. This particular client was dropping his AS/400 and migrating
all of the data to a pile of intel based SQL servers. The great thing the IT
manager loved about the SAN concept in this case is that he could just add in a
disks as required and allocate data to the servers and services that needed it.
No major downtime and reconfiguration required.

All of his messaging and SQL/Oracle boxes are now running on a SAN.
Backup times have improved, performance has increased, and data is more
manageable.

How does that sound.

I have a really great quote on an IBM TB SAN. This afternoon I have a
meeting with my boss to justify the purchase. Can you guys give me some
intelligent sounding buzz words for writing up my AR?

I know it big and fiber channel is fast and our file storage servers
are getting long in the tooth ( and out of warrenty). Help me sound
smart, but not too over the head of my non tech IT manager. Thanks,
Joanne
