Yes, www.apple.com www.fsf.org + alot more. ibm, novell support open source

Lots of 'better' software out there.

I run my mac OSX 10.2 for 3 weeks SOLID <- which describes the OS compared to
w2k or XP.
I do more or less the same stuff with my work w2k laptop, it needs to be
rebooted alot more.
go figure.

our UNIX boxes at work run for 7months+
our Windows boxes need regular attention.
go figure.

there are other companies out there with better products. M$ had a foothold
since 10 years ago and has protected it well, thats it.

Outlook has been attacked so many times because it is everywhere! In my
mind, this is painfully obvious. If you were going to retire from your
job to steal cars and had the opportunity to make ONE device that would
allow you to steal ONE make and model of car, would you make it a Honda
Accord, or Scout? You'd attack what is most prevelant in your area.
Making a device that could steal Scouts would be a waste of time,
because you'd only be able to collect a few handfuls of them, whereas
you could pickup four dozen Accords every day of the week and be much
more successful.

Yes, exactly, just like Outlook. Outlook is not any more or less
inherently secure than any other comparable e-mail application (if there
are any...).

That's completely insane. Outlook has always been something that you
had to purchase, and pay decent money for relative to other
applications. Why is Outlook so widely used? Because it's a damn good
product. Good====>Popular That's how things work sometimes! (Not all
the time though, look at popular music...) Microsoft gained its
dominance by creating superior products. Who here uses Excel? Okay,
and who uses Lotus 1,2,3? That's what I thought. But wait, wasn't
1,2,3 the #1 spreadsheet app for a while? Why isn't it now? Is it
because Microsoft put a gun to the heads of 30 million people and made
them switch, or is it because Lotus was exposed as the completely
worthless software company that it is when Microsoft started showing the
world what GOOD applications are like. Lotus Notes anyone? (Sorry
Jim...) Did Microsoft also use some questionable tactics at times to
gain market share? That's debateable. In my opinion, they did what any
company does, tried to make money for its shareholders... Now
everyone's all pissed and jealous because Microsoft just seems to be
good at everything it does (I know there are exceptions...), so
everyone's just going to sue them. Talk about biting the hand that's
feeding you. Not that this would ever happen, but I'd like to see
Microsoft just put out a press release saying, "You know what? F you
all. We're done. We're just going to all burn down our buildings,
dismantle the company, and go home. Good luck with your computers."

Microsoft's day will end. That's only natural. But it will only happen
when someone comes out with something better. Microsoft doesn't reign
over everything. Microsoft has no product that can compare to
Photoshop, for example, and I doubt they ever will.
