if you can ping from the duff 2k machine you know the wiring is ok, and that packets are getting to another machine and that MAC addressed frames are making it back to the win2k machine. What may be failing is the ARP process, i.e. when pinging the win2k machine from another machine, the win2k machine is not responding to the ARP process properly.. do you have teamed NICS on this machine?? if in a switched environment, can you ping the win2k machine from one of the switches?? -----Original Message----- From: Art Bain [mailto:artbain2@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 25 September 2003 15:04 To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [windows2000] Can't view shares on one computer I have a small network that consists of 5 XP, 2 W2K, 2 9x, and one NT4 server. This isn't a domain, just a workgroup. One of the 2000 boxes can't be accessed, but this computer can access any of the other computers on the network. I can't even ping its IP (static), but can ping others from this pc. It has file and print sharing installed, all the correct networking installed, and all the users and passwords configured. I've switched NICs and cabling with no success. What the heck am I missing? Art _________________________________________________________________ Help protect your PC.
