Yes Eleanor that's what Vincent and I were debating - it was the mute of
Talks when phone was locked for new messages . No worries I think we have
it all "Talked"!

Loretto is not strictly accurate here. There is a setting within Talks to
mute the Talks on key lock. This is a permanent setting once you set it'
there is then no need to be muting and unmuting Talks every time you use the
phone. All those key presses Loretto, smile! Will give you finger strain! To
set your phone to always mute on key lock. Go in to Talks. The recommended
way is to press the Talks key followed by the options key also known as soft
key one. You hold down the options key for a few seconds after having
pressed the Talks key. Once in Talks there are tabs going across. Depending
on your version of Talks you may have 3 or 5 tabs. You want the Advanced
tab. Use the right arrow key to move across tabs. You will hear Talks
announce Advanced tab. Then once on this tab use the down arrow until you
come to mute on keylock. This is a toggle for yes and no. If you hear Talks
say mute on keylock no then press the select key which is set in the middle
of all the arrow keys. This will then give you mute on keylock and you are
up and running. No more need for all those key presses when you unlock your
phone. Then exit back out of Talks by pressing soft key 2. This key is above
the clear or delete key on the right. While the clear or delete key is
raised, soft key 2 is flat.

Yes Breege you have to do it every time as far as I know. Alternatively you
could lower the volume by pressing Talks and number 5 so that if it only
tipped off something it would only speak for that moment and then you can
higher the volume with Talks and 6. Personally I just lower the volume.

do I have to do that every time I lock the phone or is there a way to
automatically do it when the phone locks?

Hi Breege,

To stop talks talking you can press the Talks key and then the delete key
which is the raised one on the right. Now when you wish to start Talks
again just repeat the key actions with Talks key and delete.

Enjoy it as it is quite a good phone!

It's the raised button on the left under the glass screen.

Hi All,

Here is a link to the Google mobile device search page but can be used just
as well on your computer. If you like a clutter free google search
experience then this looks like the job. I would suggest making a shortcut
on your desktop to this one for handiness when you need it:
