My husband and I took a noontime walk around Occoquan NWR yesterday. It was
quite warm! We had a good walk though and saw or heard the following:
Double-crested Cormorants
Great Blue Heron
Red-breasted Mergansers
Ospreys -- many on nests
Red-tailed Hawk (2 circling)
Wild Turkey
Belted Kingfisher
Tree Swallow
Northern Mockingbird
White-breasted Nuthatch (heard)
American Goldfinch
Prothonotary Warbler (nice looks; pics on my blog)
Common Yellowthroat (heard)
Red-winged Blackbird
Common Grackle
