Hi Folks, The caring and alert landowner west of Roseburg who hosted a wintering Burrowing Owl last year, notified Mark Hamm that the bird had returned on January 20th. The landowner has given us permission to take "owl tours" down his private road to view the owl, so long as we "don't scare the owl." What we did last year, and can do again this year, is to meet at designated times to jump in one car, drive down the driveway, view the owl from the car while going in, then again on the way back out. Do NOT attempt to drive down the private driveway yourself. Relationships like this with private landowners are precious, and often fragile, not to mention the bird itself. Currently scheduled Burrowing Owl "tours": Sunday the 25th, 9 a.m and 4 p.m. (takes about 10 minutes) Meet at the east side of the Kruse Farms parking area (on south side of Melrose Rd. just west of Garden Valley Rd.). CALL/EMAIL IF YOU WANT TO GO, OTHERWISE I WON'T SHOW UP!
