Reading between the lines, I'm interpreting your comment to mean that ICEB may
decide to use something other than 5, 146 for the checkmark (tick).
I'm the first to admit I'm a bit of a Unicode snob. I am not a fan of using
U+221a as checkmark (tick). U+2713 should be a unique translation.

Hi everyone,
I have seen various options, including the square root (radical sign) as
discussed below, a transcriber note with the word "tick", or a custom shape.
Please note: the ICEB Code Maintenance Committee has the coding for a check
(tick) mark as one of its charges, and this will be discussed.
Please also note, the reason why the radical without vinculum sign (square
root) is being used at all is because visually it looks like a check (tick)
mark. Functionally, Unicode 221a and 2713 serve very different purposes.

The U+2714 for heavy checkmark (✔)also translates as the UEB symbol for a
checkmark (dots 5, 146)
And the Unicode for the for the radical without vinculum (√) is 221a which, as
mentioned translates as (dots 5, 146)
I have been using the radical without vinculum for the checkmark as indicated
in the Symbols list

In UEB Guidelines for Technical Material §8.3 the "radical without vinculum" is
shown standing alone as a checkmark: (dots 5, 146). This is also listed in the
UEB Appendix 3 Symbols List.
The radical w/o vinculum, as well as the Unicode checkmark (U+2713) translated
in Duxbury as (dots 5, 146.)

then hold down the left Alt key and tap letter x. Alt+x is a toggle, and so
will toggle between displaying the Unicode value and the actual symbol.]
Needless to say the omission of U+2700 will be reported accordingly to Duxbury.
