I'd like to expand a little further here, albeit mainly for the benefit of
Duxbury users.
There are probably five Unicode Characters relevant here. (I hope this message
displays the actual visual character after the U+ number) They are:
U+2713 ✓ Check Mark
U+2714 ✔ Heavy Check Mark
U+2610 ☐ Ballot Box
U+2611 ☑ Ballot Box with tick
U+2612 ☒ Ballot Box with x
I have to hold up my hand and say that the first two check marks do not import
from Word as they should. (Nor do any of the U+27## series which are known as
"Wingdings)
However the last three do. That is to say when imported from Word, DBT will
replace the character with dot 4, dots 1,2,4,6 and in angle brackets will put
the Unicode description.
This is as per UEB Rule 11.7 Shape symbols

[To create the symbol in Word, type in the Unicode value, for example, 2611 and
then hold down the left Alt key and tap letter x. Alt+x is a toggle, and so
will toggle between displaying the Unicode value and the actual symbol.]
Needless to say the omission of U+2700 will be reported accordingly to Duxbury.
