August 17, 2004 Shelby Park and Bottoms East Nashville, Dav Co. Frank Fekel and I birded Mission Hill in Shelby Park this morning in search of Frank's Olive-sided Flycatcher for the year. At the spot the bird usually appears, the only thing in sight was a Cooper's Hawk sitting in the middle of the trail enjoying his breakfast, a Rock Pigeon. Further along the trail, we ran into a good flock of Warblers and other migrants, and had looks at the following species: Blue-winged Warbler - 6 Golden-winged Warbler - 1 Prairie Warbler - 1 Cerulean - 1 Blackburnian - 1 American Redstart - 1 Yellow-breasted Chat - 1 House Wren - 2 Red-eyed Vireo - 3 Eastern Wood-Pewee - 7 On Windmill Hill, a single Baltimore Oriole Was seen. In Shelby Bottoms, we saw 2 more Blue-winged Warblers and 1 Yellow Warbler.
