Shelby Park / Shelby Bottoms ph. 3
Nashville, Davidson Co
This morning Mary Zimmerman, Mike Smith, and I
(Phillip Casteel) birded Shelby Park in east Nashville.
Despite the country music and helicopters following the
runners of the music city marathon, part of which went
through the Park, we tallied 71 species.
Highlight included 19 species of Warblers:
Blue-winged - 3
Tennessee - 1
Orange-crowned - 2
Nashville - 12+
N. parula - 3
Yellow - 3
Chestnut-sided - 1
Yellow-rumped - 15+
Black-throated Green - 8
Blackburnian - 2
Palm - 3
Blackpoll - 2
Black-and-white - 3
Redstart - 1
Worm-eating - 1
Ovenbird - 1
Northern Waterthrush - 1
Common Yellowthroat - 4
Yellow-breasted Chat - 2
Other species seen:
Solitary Sandpiper
Yellow-billed Cuckoo
Swainson's Thrush
Wood Thrush
Summer Tanager
Scarlet Tanager
Lincoln's Sparrow
Rose-breasted Grosbeak
Orchard Oriole
Baltimore Oriole
