Yesterday's front worked its way across the region. It was reinforced by a secondary disturbance which brought rain and thunderstorms to the upper Texas and Louisiana coasts this morning. Presently a squall line is approaching New Orleans and a small flight of trans-Gulf migrants is approaching the Mississippi delta from the SE. Otherwise the NEXRAD coverage of the western Gulf coast in the TX/LA region is clear of trans-Gulf migrants. This may be deceptive as migrants bucking heavy weather over the Gulf almost always fly "down on the deck" which renders them invisible to radar as they are literally flying "under the radar". There is considerable radar evidence of diurnal migrating birds (probably raptors, Anhingas, Am. White Pelicans, swallows, etc. especially southwest of Corpus Christi. Birding should be good along the coast through tomorrow. jca John C.
