Send interesting sightings- complete with species name, LOCATION, and contact information- to Kenny Anderson at kennya290@xxxxxxxxx -Rarities Found This Week- 3 Whooping Cranes, a family with 2 adults and a juvenile, are the exceptional find of the week. The birds are at Granger Lake's Sore Finger WMA. They were nicely photographed from an appropriate distance on 2/18 and 19 in Williamson County. A Western Tanager was reported again at an Autin home's feeder 2/16. (Travis) A Long-tailed Duck continues to be seen at Inks Lake National Fishery in Burnet County. 2/15 latest update. One of the Calliope Hummingbirds continues to be documented at an Austin home's feeder. 2/14,15 latest reports. Clay-colored Sparrow was reported from Reimer's Ranch in Travis County on 2/17. Harris's Hawk remains in the Berry Springs Park vicinity in Williamson County- 2/17 report. Zone-tailed Hawk was described twice between Mansfield Dam, Commons Ford and Emma Long Parks along the Lower Colorado River on 2/16,17. A Zone-tailed Hawk was east of Whimberley, just north of the Blanco River in Hays County on 2/15. Rusty Blackbird are reasopnably reliable at Hornsby Bend in Travis County and Aquarena Springs in Hays County. Reports for the Austin area RBA cover a 60 mile radius, centered from the Capitol in downtown Austin. Bird sightings mentioned here have been filtered and scrutinized by the compiler and are believed to be genuine.
