Send interesting sightings- complete with species name, LOCATION, and contact information- to Kenny Anderson at kennya290@xxxxxxxxx -Exceptional Bird- A Brown Booby continue (s,d?) near the dam at Canyon Lake in Comal County. The bird was last reported at 4:30 on 9/3. It was photographed on 8/31 and described as an adult female. Further updates, both positive and negative reports, are encouraged. -Rarities Found This Week- A Common Loon was reported on 9/1 at Canyon Lake from several parties looking for Brown Booby. A Swallow-tailed Kite was described gliding above the trees along the San Gabriel River upstream of Granger Lake on 9/3 (Williamson County) Zone-tailed Hawk reports were aplenty: 1 from a scenic overlook on Devil's Backbone Fm 32 on 9/3, 1 from Cibolo Nature Center on 8/21 ( belated report), 1 from Bastrop County 9/3, and 1 from Hamilton Pool Road in Travis County on 9/6. A Vermillion flycatcher has been at the Stony Creek Park in northeast Austin in Travis County. Photographed 8/26-9/2. Reports for the Austin area RBA cover a 60 mile radius, centeredfrom the Capitol in downtown Austin. The circle extends north to Belton (Bell County), south to Leesville (Gonzales County), east to SomervilleWMA (Lee Burleson County), and west to Blumenthal (Gillespie County).Birdsightings mentioned here have been filtered and scrutinized by the compiler and are believed to be genuine.
