This is the Austin Area Rare Bird Alert. This update is as of 7/9/2015.
Send interesting sightings, complete with species name, location, and
contact information to Nate McGowan at natemcgowanbirds@xxxxxxxxx.
Not rare, but a spectacle in its own right, the Austin PURPLE MARTIN roost
has been relocated in Capitol Plaza at the 5400 block of I-35, *Travis*.

-Rarities found this week-

At least two LESSER NIGHTHAWKS have been reliable near the CVS and
Minuteman Press Buildings in downtown San Marcos, *Hays*, most recently 7/8.

A LAUGHING GULL was photographed at Hornsby Bend, *Travis*, 7/7.

A HUTTON'S VIREO was heard near the headquarters at Balcones Canyonlands
NWR, *Travis, *7/3.

The PEREGRINE FALCON on the UT tower in Austin, *Travis*, has been showing
well, most recently 7/4.

-Continuing birds from previous weeks-

A singing SWAINSON'S WARBLER, an outstanding find, continued on CR 490
between CR 467 and FM 619 in *Williamson*, most recently 7/4.

A LONG-BILLED THRASHER, an outstanding find at a private residence in
western *Travis*, continued 7/5. The bird has been well photographed.

A GREAT KISKADEE continues at Berry Springs Park in Georgetown,
*Williamson,* most recently 7/8.

A YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER continued at Commons Ford, *Travis*, 7/5.

Reports for the Austin area RBA cover a 60 mile radius, centered on the
Capitol in downtown Austin. Bird sightings mentioned here have been
filtered and scrutinized by the compiler and are believed to be genuine.
When documentation or photographs were provided, that is mentioned along
with the other information about the bird(s) being seen. For questions or
