Phil & Bil. You are correct. I think we should put this subject to bed. I dont' know anymore about computers than I did a week ago. I said: "All the pro's seem to agree that upgrading from Win98 or Me to 2000 or XP is a very poor choice." I should have said that MOST of the pro's... And it appears that upgrading to 2000 causes more problems than XP. There are 2 meanings to the word upgrade. When you upgrade your PC with a better motherboard you don't keep the old motherboard in the system. But when you upgrade from Windows 98 to XP by using the XP upgrade CD it not the same as a clean install. Apparently with XP it goes smoother than with Me or 2000, but it's still better to do a fresh install. You can always try it and see how it goes. The last thing I would ever do is format (no need if you know how to delete the folders "Windows" and "Program Files" (and all unnecessary files and folders under C:). This way you can keep your personal folders and files when doing a fresh install (and it will be totally fresh). -- Best regards, =A0=A0=A0=A0Bil Green =A0=A0PC 1000 =A0=A0Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546 =A0=A0=A0=A0760-924-1000 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 mailto:tv.vcrrepair@xxxxxxxxxxx Sunday, June 13, 2004, 4:33:28 AM, you wrote: D> Wait a minute....THAT IS NOT WHAT I PERCIEVED.....
