Jeff, That sounds like the infamous 13-pin A340309-1003 tuner problem. I have replaced hundreds of them for the same problem. Don't see many of them anymore, but I still stock them. Used to rebuilt them, but hardly worth it when I can get them from Tip Top for $27.00, and the chips used are getting hard to find. Sears used to charge about $250 for that tuner replacement.
